Shaney is a senior at New Mexico State University where she played right side hitter for for the NMSU volleyball team. She helped lead the team to second-straight WAC Regular Seasons titles and was named Second Team All-WAC. Shaney is the only player in the NCAA to hit 1.000 with at least 14 swings. She grew up in San Diego, California where she played at Cathedral Catholic High School and went on to play two years at Grossmont College and earned All-Conference honors both years. She says she enjoys coaching at the club level because she can connect with the girls thanks to her experience as a player in club volleyball herself and playing at the college level. “I expect a lot out of my players but when you give them constructive feedback and positive reinforcement it goes a long way. At this age, the girls need to know that their coach believes in them.”
